So I've got my spending fast going on and that is helping me to watch my calories more, and I'm also trying to kick it up in the gym this month. It's nice timing, since the season of culinary debauchery is upon us (AKA the holla-days), and I'd really like to jump start my weight loss again.
Today I read something, somewhere, probably on Shape.com, that after you've lost weight, your metabolism stays slower. How about that? That would mean that you would be able to maintain your new weight with fewer calories than you would think, or that the straight up math would imply. TRICKY, human body, you are very tricky. Now this was just a little blurb piece and it didn't really address how increasing your lean muscle mass with strength training would affect that - there has got to be a way to rev your metabolism back up, right?
Right?
I don't know. All I know is the article did make me feel a little bit better about my stagnant weight for the last couple of months. Maybe my metabolism has slowed a little bit, and that in combination with my food has done the trick (or not done the trick, as it were).
Exercise so far this week:
Monday: Iyengar yoga for 90 minutes
Tuesday: Ran/walked 1 mile as a warm up
35 Minutes of weight training
20 minutes of interval work on the elliptical
I also sneaked in a little 10 minute walk around the block in the middle of my work day today. I need to do that more often. Sunshine is magic. After my gym work out tonight, I decided on a whim to see if I could leg press my weight, 260 pounds. I can. :-) I did 260 pounds at 9 reps. HOLLA.
Not sure what my workout plans will be for the rest of the week. Tomorrow will probably be a dance class or yoga. Thursday I'll probably be back upstairs doing weight training and maybe some work on the treadmill. And at some point, these dogs of mine need a long walk!
