1.There have been more donuts in my life during the last two days than there have been in like the whole last two years. GAH! Krispy Kreme's at work - I ate not one, not two, but three. ^$^%$^$! I KNOW. Then there were more donuts on Saturday. They torment me. They need to leave me alone.
2. I went for a wonderful swim on Friday night. I swam right up until the pool closed at 7:30. Part of me felt like I should have gotten out earlier, even if just a few minutes earlier, but most of me was like I NEED EVERY MINUTE IN THIS POOL. Obviously, that part won. 45 minutes of laps and drills. Felt like a million bucks when it was over. I am loving the combo of cardio + resistance that a pool workout provides.
3. My neighborhood is awesome. It's about 55 years old and we don't have a homeowner's association, but we do have a listserv and lots of concerned folks. Some of them got a grant together for us to get some landscaping done at the entrance to our little corner of heaven, and we had a work day today to do the planting. I spent 3 hours out there digging up grass, digging holes for plants, planting plants, and shoveling mulch. This is also wear some of the aforementioned donuts of doom were lurking. :-) But I had a blast in the chilly sunshine, and I'm truly grateful to make my home in a place full of unique, caring folks. Check out some of our work:
4. I learned last night that you cannot blindly follow the directions on a package of corn taco shells. I mean, I think I knew that before, but I was reminded of it when I hit 45 seconds, threw the taco shells in the microwave, and walked over to my washing machine. I started to smell something funny, and by the time I got back to the kitchen, the darn taco shells had caught fire! WHOOPS.
I guess my microwave is stronger than the average microwave. I tossed these burned shells out and decided to forego warming the rest of the shells. They aren't a bad calorie deal at 50 calories a pop.
That's it for my brief weekend update. I need to head into the office for a few hours today, finish some edits that I didn't complete last week. Weekends go even faster when you have to spend part of them finishing work you didn't get done during the week. Imagine that.
